Lots on my mind lately; spending several days lonely in California was both peaceful and wrenching....

One of the best things about my vacation last week is that I found the California that I can really get behind. Previously, my only experiences have really been in Los Angeles. No offense to my friends there, but that place is a hell hole. It's hot, smoggy and has an unnatural fascination with traffic. As I headed out of town up the coast, I ran into the California that all those songs are written about. Please bury me in Napa Valley....

Easy to see why Sarah Palin has to hide from the media. Even her recitation of the talking points is so incoherent at times that it's almost shocking. I had no idea it'd be this bad. Tell me Katie Couric isn't a better option... I'm not trying to be a jerk about this; but this is the reality we find ourselves in today. A potential President who cannot articulate common knowledge is the same kind of President who will invent a new doctrine of "pre-emptive" war and the necessity...

With Wall Street in utter collapse, you and me (taxpayers) are about to get a memo. It'll simply read: From the Government: Fuck You! These people made $50 million dollars a year!! and we're going to bail them out? These so-called experts didn't understand that you can't have $10 billion in cash and loan out $300 billion? Are you kidding me? This is all wrong, like most everything else that's happened over the past 8 or so years. The sad thing is, the American people don't watch or pay attention....

Back from vacation; somehow got sick in the most wonderful weather on earth. More later.....

Absolutely fantastic news for cycling: Lance Armstrong will ride in 2009 for Team Astana. He's riding to raise awareness. “If cancer got a whole new name tomorrow and a whole new set of fears associated with it and it had the toll that it does, we would act. Look at all those other things they act upon. Forget war and terror. Look at sars. Remember the bird flu? Remember all that stuff? aids, people freaked. Those were new, scary issues that all of a sudden were going to come jump...

I've very much tried to stay out of commenting on politics this go-round. I realize that none of you care and no one reads it. On a personal level, it's very sad to me to watch and participate. The honest truth is that I don't feel like participating because I really wonder how I should even expect my vote to count. I don't mean that as a Texan with no chance of electing anything but a Republican. I don't say that because of the distrust we should all have over...
