May 17-20, I'll be in Chicago for the National Restaurant Association meeting. It's a gigantic convention of all facets of the food industry. There'll be suppliers, customers and everything in between in one place. On my side of the industry, it's a good chance to get away from work, wine and dine the customers and enjoy ourselves. We work a lot and we work very hard. In a typical day, I'm there for at least 11 hours or more and I rarely sit. It's hard, but it's fruitful and challenging....

Our team cooked dinner last night for the MGM group that was visiting our meat-cutting facility. It was their first visit to our Texas operations, so we threw out all the stops to impress upon them how culinary-driven our r/d team really is. The food came out really well and these guys were blown away that a manufacturing team could drop the awesomeness on them so easily. This day is a big waste of time because it's never funny. It's not satire, it's lame attempts at tricking people without being truly creative enough to really pull it off. People make it too complex to where it's overwrought with details and sheer stupidity. somee cards, however, did a good job (as usual), with their online e-cards....
