You buy cables from Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc.
Why pay $50 for an HDMI cable when you can get one for $4 in any color or length you desire from monoprice.com?
You know how I can be a bit into this stuff? Honestly, I'm not sure if it's a big deal with video, but I was blown away when I plugged my guitar into my recording interface direct with aMonster Cable and then a with custom cable I decided to try out from lavacable.com. The monster made the guitar sound like a cheap bass through a practice amp. The Sommer cable I bought was so crystal clear. Ticked me off actually. It translates to real world application, too. I can hear a clear difference in the sound character when I plug into my amp and turn it up. There's more dimension to the sound and a bit more separation between fundamental and overtone.
The technical difference has to do with the capacitence of the wire being used. That's the spec these stupid HDMI people should put on their packaging.
