When I saw Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova opening in NYC for Damien Rice; I was amazed at how beautiful their music, and how natural they were on stage. Imagine that translated to a movie, and you've got the movie "Once."
Sadly, it's only in limited release right now, perhaps never making it to West Texas. I've read it compared to Music and Lyrics but without the Hollywood and bad music. It's an Irish indie film that, at many times, shows some ragged edges. But for me, I loved and appreciated that it wasn't overproduced. These people won't ever be on American Idol, so there's no reason for the movie to look like it.
If you want a taste; check out the soundtrack on iTunes.
The song about the Hoover repairman is probably the finest song in the history of music.
