As I alluded to in my last post, I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D40 (Thanks Whitney!). It's quite nice and a good start into the dSLR market. It's been a while since my photography class in high school; but I'm quite enjoying the power and ease of use of this camera.
It takes fabulous pictures out of the box, but the true magic is when you start manipulating the photos. Hoover recommended Adobe LightRoom which I'd played around with before. I redownloaded the trial and started messing with it today. It's come quite a long ways since it's early Beta that I used.
Check the Flickr! for semi-constant updates.
i want to play with that program as well. i love my newest addition (since thanksgiving- canon rebel xt dSLR) but need to play with my photos more. we can compare notes!

You have not fully experienced the power of Lightroom until you use it to process 1800 wedding pictures. It's one of those rare programs that is more than just a great program - it operates like an extension of your own brain.
My only complaints are that it doesn't run Photoshop plug-ins, the spot correction interface is awkward, and the sharpening functions are useless. I guess they had to build in a few reasons to assure that people have to keep buying Photoshop.
But being able to apply the same edits to multiple documents without using macros or Automator functions is like butter on my breakfast toast. Lightroom touches me in the morning.
