I love live music, but I simply don't enjoy enough of it. Lee and I have been making efforts to get out more to see some shows; the shins and macon greyson being two of those. This weekend, Whitney was in town and we got to see macon greyson again together. They're the band that brought us together, albeit drunkenly, but together nonetheless.
They put on a great show and it's always a good time. Last night, we went out to the Gypsy Tea Room with Jill and Chris to see Rocky Votolato. We missed the opening band, The Great Depression, which is greatly depressing.
But the second act stole the show; they're an alt-country band from Ft. Collins, Colorado called "Drag the River" and they're gruff. From the first twangy chords, I knew these guys were for real. From singing with the cigarette hanging from the lips, to the guitarist turning around and facing his amp everytime he'd jam, they were gude.
I picked up one of their latest cd's on iTunes, of which they're all available, and just freaking love it already. Good times.
nice picture of the guy from DTR. i'm sorry you didn't get to see TGD, but at least you enjoyed one band.
and yay for buddy huffman & macon greyson. [though i still would have enjoyed the night more if we had gotten flashing, green necklaces!!!]

I thought DTR was pretty great too, but Chris found them a little on the twangy side. After all, he is a Yankee. I loved Rocky a lot! And it was fun to share the evening with you two!
