The new Damien Rice album, 9, is good. It's different than his first major release, but it's different in a nice way. A little more folky, a tad not as melancholy, but with same genuinity (is that a word) in his song-writing. I dig it.
i agree. i haven't had a long time to digest it yet, i've only listened through it a few times. coincidentally, i'm listening to it right now. initial standouts for me are "9 Crimes" - which he performed excellently on Conan Friday night - "Elephant", "Me, My Yoke, And I", and "Accidental Babies", although, like his last record, there really isn't a bad song on it.

I haven't heard the new cd yet, mainly due to the fact that I haven't yet purged my house of all knives and alcohol, and I'm not sure I can trust myself to listen to it alone after the extreme melancholy of his last album. But just you wait, I'll buy it on iTunes as soon as I feel cheerful enough :)
By the way, sorry for being annoying over on Former 3rd Floor. I sounded like my dad. Yikes.
