August 30, 2005 09:29 PM: nothing sacred

You can say what you want about politics, but if you've stood in Yosemite or Glacier National Park, this should upset you. I guess nothing is sacred... Recently, a secret draft revision of the national park system's basic management policy document has been circulating within the Interior Department. It was prepared, without consultation within the National Park Service, by Paul Hoffman, a deputy assistant secretary at Interior who once ran the Chamber of Commerce in Cody, Wyo., was a Congressional aide to Dick Cheney and has no park service...

Definitely not a Doper....

August 25, 2005 04:21 PM: sojourners: so good

Pat Robertson is an embarrassment to the church and a danger to American politics. Robertson is known for his completely irresponsible statements - that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were due to American feminists and liberals, that true Christians could vote only for George W. Bush, that the federal judiciary is a greater threat to America than those who flew the planes into the World Trade Center Towers, and the list goes on. Robertson even took credit once for diverting a hurricane. But his latest outburst may take the cake. On...

August 23, 2005 09:55 PM: where the rubber meets the road

Nights like tonight further my assertion that a good bike ride is all you need in life. Add in a couple of great people and you've got yourself a really good time. Tonight, I met up with Steve and Suzanne (who just got a new bike) and my buddy Justin for a little ride. Intending to do 15-20 miles on the canyon lakes trail, we ended up doing 35 and riding all over the West side of the County. I'm proud to say that I was the weak link...

August 21, 2005 11:27 AM: vacation

A lady on Fox News this morning said that Cindy Sheehan needed this vacation because she was embarassing herself... I might question whether having to leave for your mother's stroke and hospitalization would really qualify as a "vacation". The Swift Boating of Cindy Sheehan By Frank Rich The New York Times Sunday 21 August 2005 Cindy Sheehan couldn't have picked a more apt date to begin the vigil that ambushed a president: Aug. 6 was the fourth anniversary of that fateful 2001 Crawford vacation day when George W. Bush responded...

August 20, 2005 11:02 PM: this is one of those times

Here's where I continue to be bizzarely honest. I've re-written this like seventeen times in the last couple of minutes. I thought I was through the hard part of depression. I thought I was done with the hiding and the hopeless thoughts. They've returned and I wasn't ready. I got some news yesterday that seems to have brought it back in the short term. I just tried to sleep for the past hour and didn't have any luck. My thoughts were sour, my outlook hopeless. To some, I've described depression...

August 9, 2005 07:03 PM: cocks

We will now resume regular posting... On June 29th, I turned off my cable and internet at my apartment knowing that I was moving. With Cox, you prepay for the month and when you turn it off, you get a refund. Today, August 9th, I finally got the refund check. I wonder how pissed they'd be if I didn't pay my bill for 41 days......

August 5, 2005 02:57 PM: invest in yourself, in your soul

"this is incredibly odd! ok, let's fight"...
