February 28, 2005 11:44 PM: update: comment spamCommenting is now working as good as can possibly be expected. No spam comments have been received in almost a month, so I'm going to say that the changes were a success. Sure, it's not as convenient as a few years ago, but comment spam gets woefully large, very quickly. Now, you may comment without using Typekey or without having to wait for moderation. They only thing different is that all individual archive pages (see comments) are now hidden behind a nospam page that makes you enter two words. A...
February 24, 2005 12:16 AM: welcome!I'd like to take a moment to welcome Lee Horn of Losing Brain Cells to the Mac family. Lee proudly received a Dual 1.8Ghz G5 today from Apple. Enjoy!...
February 22, 2005 04:32 PM: Bill SimmonsThere's a great new sports guy article where he claims that Shaq cheated at P-I-G. It's an epic tale... 8:45 a.m. -- Thanks to a comedy of errors, I didn't make my plane reservation until three days ago, which is relevant for three reasons. First, if my airline for the weekend was an NBA player, it would be Michael Olowokandi -- bad reputation, perennial underachiever, but a strangely palatable option since it's impossible to find a serviceable big man at a reasonable price. Everyone who flies this airline ends up...
February 19, 2005 09:21 AM: Sunsets & SushiEvery Crowder album seems to push the limits of the Christian sub-culture. Remember the first time you heard his third album "Can You Hear Us?" and the first song was slow and melodic and it morphed into a techno beat. We don't have enough David Crowder's and his new album shows that!...
February 12, 2005 08:32 PM: the formatElise recently asked for suggestions for new, good music. One of the beauties of iTunes is how easy it is to stumble upon good, no, great new music. Without iTunes, I'd never have run into a group named The Format. Visit their website, it's ghetto, so you know they aren't all big and famous yet. It's nice to listen to something before everyone else, right? Their cd is titled "Interventions and Lullabies" and it's available at iTunes. Here's two tracks to wet your appetite. The Format - Give It...
February 10, 2005 08:00 AM: credentials for allThis morning, CNN is covering a story of a White House Reporter who was using a fake name and working for a GOP "News" Organization. "James Guckert, who reported from the White House for the Talon News Service under the name "Jeff Gannon," announced he was quitting the business "in consideration of the welfare of me and my family."" Here's why this concerns me, and should concern you as well: 1) This Administration is such a joke that they have to pay people to make them look good. First, it...
February 7, 2005 05:18 PM: unconcernedOur President: MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute. THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs? MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes. THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.) She's working three jobs for a reason, not for fun....
February 2, 2005 05:58 PM: copywrongedToday I learned: "The Eiffel Tower's likeness had long since been part of the public domain, when in 2003, it was abruptly repossessed by the city of Paris. That's the year that the SNTE, the company charged with maintaining the tower, adorned it with a distinctive lighting display, copyrighted the design, and in one feel swoop, reclaimed the nighttime image and likeness of the most popular monument on earth. In short: they changed the actual likeness of the tower, and then copyrighted that." Here's my letter to them: Dear...
