September 27, 2003 08:34 PM: disliking groups

I don't understand the necessity for upper-level college courses to require group work. It's like the harder your class, the more your dependent on the frat boy sitting next to you. As I've gotten into classes that are of more importance, I don't want to be putting work onto someone else. It's my grade, I want it to be my work. Take my Leadership in Communication group for example. Of the 5 people in my group, there are 2 of us who met for our "group" meeting tonight. 2 of...

September 27, 2003 03:35 PM: NL Central Champs!

Sorry Kyle, it looks like your Houston Astros aren't going to the playoffs. The Cubs magic number is down to 1 and they are ahead in their 2nd game of the doubleheader!!...

September 23, 2003 08:37 PM: no fair-weather here

I am not a fair-weather fan, but it's going to seem like it. The Chicago Cubs moved into a 1 1/2 games lead in the NL Central Pennant Race tonight. My Cubs are making the playoffs!! I grew up watching the Cubs sitting in my dad's lap. I've been to Wrigley, I cried when Harry Carey died. I actually laid in his parking spot when we were at Wrigley. I owned a copy of "Andre Dawson, You're our Hero!" back in the 80's. The Cubs are the only team...

September 20, 2003 05:25 PM: actually seen on his sleeve

Derek Webb is truly a gift. Very few people could have a show and talk for probably more than 1/2 of the time. I had like 6 songs on video and 20 pictures, but the Lord decided that one of my memory stick's should come up lame. So, I only have two songs and one intro. Thankfully though, I have a new song he wrote recently, maybe called "I Repent", and his intro to "Wedding Dress" and also the song. So we're still good. When you watch these videos, realize,...

September 18, 2003 12:10 AM: market or whore

I've been going to Paradigm since Hoover told me how cool it was and I've really loved the opportunity. During my first semester, Paradigm met at the old movie theater and had ______ McDill as the speaker. For the life of Hoover and I, we can't remember his first name. We remember all kinds of things like his wife's name (Jill), where he was from, and what he spoke about. I was there when it moved from the movie theatre back to FBC with the big wall on the...

September 17, 2003 02:29 PM: polar opposites

pardon the randomness of this post. verisign, the spawn of satan, decided to mess with the name servers of the entire internet and also this website. it effectively took it down for all cox customers but didn't for others. i have no way to explain it, but i still can't send email and it's pissing me off. on to the goodness. today, on my way to school, this little old lady in a large buick drove up beside me. i was just tooling along listening to some old Crowder minding...

September 9, 2003 04:13 PM: it's hard to be

i forgot what texas tech is like during the school year. last spring i only took 6 hours and summer school is very small and serene. but once september rolls around, lubbock in inundated with frat boys and whores. most people will read that and think i'm mean. no, seriously, it's true. ask anyone who goes to school here. you can't turn around with running into some "dude" who's talking about the chick he slept with last night or some girl wearing about three square inches of clothing. at...

September 4, 2003 11:15 PM: cheaters never prosper

Milstein said the public perception of Clarett is skewed by the intense media coverage of his situation. "He's a little kid in a big kid's body. He has been attacked and his integrity has been questioned and he's been put through this whirlwind of accusations and he's been questioned hours and hours and hours," Milstein said. "It's just absolutely unfair to treat any kid this way. It's just awful, to put any kid up under this kind of a microscope as if he is a professional athlete who is mature."...

September 3, 2003 12:08 AM: on the road to beautiful

i've had charlie hall's newest cd playing for less than 10 minutes, but i can already say it's incredible and should be added to everyone's collection. it's titled "on the road to beautiful" and can be ordered off grassroots music or bought real soon at Best Buy. charlie played at late nite tonight at westminster presbyterian. at the start of each school year, they always bring someone in to get it going with some energy. i've never seen charlie hall play, but i've always respected his humble nature and thought-provoking...

September 1, 2003 01:58 PM: Sign-Up for SWOOL

A quick run-down of how this works. I make a cd with 10 songs; each song should represent a story to you. All 10 songs don't have to apply to the same story, but it's ok if a couple of them apply to the same thing. The reason I want to do it this way is because I firmly believe that music is a reflection of life. Everyone has a song or songs that make them remember a certain time. A death, a victory, a road trip, a significant other....
