The Campus Conference Bonfire Circle is nearly completed at a cost of less than $400,000, said Mike Ellicott, vice chancellor for facilities, planning and construction. Ellicott said chipped stonework is being repaired on the circle. The facility will be used for the first time on Homecoming night, Oct. 18. Homecoming Coordinating Committee Staff Adviser Jana Vise said the facility would benefit the tradition of Homecoming. "The benefit of the facility is that we no longer have to move the location of the bonfire ever year. We now have a permanent location that students will become familiar with," Vise said. |
What?
This gave me a good chuckle and further proves my point that academics do not come first. Was spending $400,000 on a brick circle, that's only used once a year for an event that not many people attend, really being that fiscally responsible?
