July 31, 2002 01:45 PM: resident evil37 hours 50 minutes 30 secondsIt took me that long to beat Resident Evil on Gamecube. Some might say that i just wasted 37 hours of my life, but i enjoyed it. I'll admit the first 20 hours of the game weren't all that great; they were fun, just not as great as the end. Some of the puzzles towards the end were downright hard. Good thing i went to Lubbock High!...

July 29, 2002 01:49 PM: Howie and OARMoriarty, NMI never really mentioned much about my trip to Albuquerque for the Jeep World Outside Festival featuring Sheryl Crow, O.A.R., Tonic, Ziggy Marley, Train, and most importantly Howie Day. There were some other bands there too, but they weren't anyone i feel like was worth remembering. I left Lubbock about 5 hours before the festival started. I meant to get up earlier than that, but it's real easy to convince yourself to sleep another hour when you know you're about to hop into the car and drive 5 hours....
July 28, 2002 01:50 PM: 1 year annivIt seems like there should be something grandiose for me to say. I've been posting for exactly a year today, but it doesn't seem like i've really changed all that much. I don't post near as much crap as i used to, but it doesn't seem like myself has changed at all. interesting....
July 27, 2002 02:03 PM: burning up with email"The internet is so fraught with procrastination," he says. "If you walk into a computer lab in any university and look over students' shoulders, they're not burning up the word processors or the spreadsheets -- they're doing Hotmail, or surfing the web or playing games. We could be lied to about the usefulness of the internet. Maybe information technology isn't as useful as we think."...
July 27, 2002 01:51 PM: Berman, you suck!News.com is reporting the submission of a new bill into the House of Representatives that would allow entertainment groups the legal right to hack into personal computers and even disable them if they had a "reasonable basis" to believe that piracy is occurring. Here are snips from this alarming report:The bill, sponsored by Reps. Howard Berman, D-Calif., and Howard Coble, R-N.C., would immunize groups such as the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) from all state and federal laws if they disable,...
July 26, 2002 01:53 PM: velcrometer's truckThis was the first time Dirt had driven the truck on the freeway, and it wasn't what you might call the ultimate driving experience. Apparently, someone at the rental office had put a "governor" under the truck's hood, making it impossible to drive over fifty miles per hour. We figured this was something they do when the renter is moving within town and thus shouldn't be on the freeway much anyway. Not that Dirt was at all happy about this. After having to pay ten more dollars for the truck...

July 21, 2002 01:55 PM: going to albuquerque July 20, 2002 01:56 PM: rush-hour sniperAnd I promise not to bring my rifle this time. That was a bad idea, I'll admit it. That was my bad, yo. But how the hell does a newspaper get to print a headline like "Rush Hour Sniper Captured Before First Shot Fired" when they have no idea whether I was going to shoot anybody. As far as I know, it's legal to own a rifle and according to my lease, I have roof access. Is this Russia?...

July 17, 2002 01:58 PM: don't grab my nutsMorse, a three-year police veteran, said in the police report that Jackson was arrested after he struggled with officers, scratched Morse above his ear and grabbed the officer's testicles after being handcuffed. Morse was in "extreme pain" and punched Jackson to make him let go, according to the report.Morse's attorney, John D. Barnett, said what his client did was "reasonable" given the circumstances of the arrest.I completely agree. You grab my testicles, you're going to lose your civil rights. I don't understand what the real big issue here is? The...
July 15, 2002 02:00 PM: John DalyThe forthcoming John Daly and Friends CD, MY LIFE, features guest performances by Darius Rucker, Willie Nelson, Johnny Lee and Daron Norwood. John's musical debut evolved out of an annual jam session during his Make A Wish charity golf tournament near Memphis, TN. After the tournament, the golfers would pass the guitar around and John's performances became the highlight of the tournament activities. After much encouragement, John decided to take his songs into the studio and John Daly and Friends My Life was born. July 13, 2002 02:00 PM: they chose to dieThere's a strange sensation that goes along with knowing people who commit suicide. When they're gone, you're left with a general uneasiness about how to deal. When someone's killed in a car accident, for example, the first thing you feel is that the situation isn't fair. You wonder why God Almighty had to take them now. Why'd they get plucked from the earth sometimes in the prime of their life. With accidental death, you can blame it on luck, or chance. With murder, easy, you can blame it on the...
July 11, 2002 02:02 PM: last-man standingTexas Tech student Joshua Nelson said he believes no one religion should dominate a society."Christianity dominates the United States like the Muslim Taliban dominates Afghanistan," he said.Nelson, a graduate student studying mathematics from Lubbock, said he agrees with the decision made by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to take away the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance."I am happy the words were taken out of the Pledge, but they should not have been put in in the first place," he said. "I believe kids should not be...
July 6, 2002 02:04 PM: elijah and ronnieI've been to seven weddings in the past year. It's really weird to grow up, and watch everyone ascend to married life. When i was in junior high, we had a really close knit group of friends at church. We were all the same age, and of similar backgrounds. They always picked me to be married first, but as i think about it now, there's only two or three of us left. I can't imagine being married right now. I can barely keep track of myself, much less another person....
July 5, 2002 02:05 PM: early digiI've put up a gallery of pictures from the first 2-3 days of pictures I have taken with my new digital camera. I'm just now learning how to use it though, so don't expect ground-breaking pictures. But check them out none-the-less.One thing I love about digital cameras is how easy it is to capture great memories quickly. With film, you snap some shots, wait two months, finally get it developed and by that time you can't remember why you took pictures of random things. Digital cameras are great because you...
July 2, 2002 02:06 PM: Chuck, You're an Idiot!Where is it written that the United States of America should be baby sitter for the whole world? We saved Kuwait from Iraq during the Gulf War and now 75 percent of the people in Kuwait say we have no business in the Arab world. China proclaims that we are their worst enemy. The Arab countries have been fighting for generations.I read an article where it said 90 percent of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan are illiterate. They teach their children to be suicide bombers. We send billions of dollars...
