Sunday I went out to meet the protesters who regularly stand in front of the Cathedral. I think it is essential a dialog is started. We need to listen to them and they need to listen to us. The most vocal voice was most likely a community activist in the Gay community who said I worked for the MAFIA which in his mind is synonymous with the Church. That conversation went no where. Yet others did, I listened. mostly the question is why? Different forms of why? Why can a pedophile priest say mass and a gay person cannot receive communion? These are question that need a forum to teach. I think that must be the next step. I think it important someone just listen to the pain of the victims with the interest of leading them out of it.
