Colossians 1:15-18
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see--kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.
That's my favorite part. When we pulled into the FBC parking lot tonight, i didn't expect to learn something so fulfilling and comforting. Jami Smith was incredible leading worship. Her voice is just amazing and i found myself watching awestruck at her talent. I don't know if it was the actual music or just the way she smiled when she sang. When Matt Chandler shared this verse, it was amazing. He explained it so well that i won't even try to repeat what he said for fear of lessening the impact. I will quote one thing he said; "we fly alot, three or four times a week. i'm not scared. the safety part never really comes into my mind. sometimes i have to leave my wife at home, but i'm not worried because i know the savior of the earth has promised to hold it all together for us. does this mean bad things won't happen? no. But when those bad things happen, i know Christ will be there holding me together." How comforting is that to know? the world is so much easier when you finally comprehend that Christ is there holding it together.
