"I applaud the academy for having the courage to make this endorsement at a time when many people are unwilling to stand up for basic fairness. Across the nation, dozens of legislatures - including, sadly, Colorado's - have devised policies, such as same-sex marriage bans, that prevent gay people from having equal access to the rights and privileges of citizenship that are guaranteed to every American in the 14th Amendment. Part of the American dream is to meet someone, fall in love, get married and have children. The state already intrudes into the private life of a gay person by telling her that she can't marry the person she loves, but to compound that by restricting the parenting rights of gay people is unconscionable.(link)" I agree it's not fair, but I don't think it should be ok to allow same-sex marriages. I don't agree that the 14th ammendment guarantees fairness for sexual orientation. I wish i could find more on this issue, but it's bed time.
