SFA falls to Louisiana-Monroe, 85-72, despite perfect shooting night from Ben Hunt.
MONROE, La. (AP) - Wojciech Myrda had 21 points, 10 blocked shots and nine rebounds Saturday night in leading Louisiana-Monroe to an 85-72 Southland Conference victory over Stephen F. Austin. With Myrda dominating the middle on both ends of the floor, ULM (6-7, 2-1 (Southland Conference) took the win in their first home game in 35 days against an SFA team (7-5, 4-1) that was the last unbeaten squad in the conference. Reggie Griffin's 3-point goal with 5:46 left before halftime gave the Indians the lead for good at 31-28 and came after seven ties in the first half. The 'Jacks trailed by three at the half and could never make up the difference in the second half in spite of matching UL-Monroe field goal for field goal in the game. The Indians finished the night 21 of 27 at the free throw line, while the Lumberjacks went only five of nine at the stripe. Reserve Kevin Paige added 16 points, and Brian Lubeck and Kirby Lemons had 14 points apiece for ULM. Ben Hunt made all 10 field goals he attempted, including four 3-point goals, to lead SFA with 24 points. The 10 of 10 shooting night tied Hunt for second place on the all-time single game field goal percentage list at SFA with two other players. The all-time best was also 100% (12-12) set by Surry Oliver. Percy Green added 22 points for the 'Jacks, with 18 coming in the second half. The Lumberjacks return to action Thursday night when they host Lamar in a 7:00 p.m. tip in the coliseum.
