this whole situation is almost so heavy it hurts my head.
one more thing that bears mentioning. at work this week there have been people collecting money for the red cross. while i find that to be a good thing i find a huge underlying flaw with the whole mentality. when MDA or the MS telethons roll around, people will lie, ignore, or berate you when you ask if they would like to donate $1 to those fine institutions. ONE measly dollar! When I compare the two events, I find the flaw. Americans are too emotionally driven. I can honestly say that more people die from MS or MD or any other for now incurable disease every year than those lost in the Trade Centers. I don't mean to take any sight off of the recent atrocity, but it's sickening to think that people are willing to give $50 when it's for something that has hit them personally. I think people know about MS and MD but ignore it because it doesn't affect them as personally as the WTC attack. should we pour more money into the WTC where people died quickly and tragically, or should we pour more money into MS and MD where people die slowly and horribly. just a thought. by the way, they've raised a ton of money for the red cross.
