Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that also shall he reap galatians 6:7
i read this on this man's site. i don't know how appropriate it is, but it stuck in my mind. i've been stuck in front of the television for a good 12 or so hours in the last 2 days. i flip it on to see if anything else has developed or happened... hours later i will move, wondering where all the time went. i think the shock has worn off a little, and now the pain begins. yesterday was all about the physical scene... the buildings... the planes... the airports... now in the aftermath the media and the world has moved on to the people aspect. i wish they wouldn't have. i took solace in the fact that we are so far away. don't get me wrong. it's completely personal. it might as well been in texas, but distance and physicality has helped. tonight is the kids.. and wives.. and parents.. these peoples' pain is so real and simple. even from thousand of miles away, you feel their pain. cbs interviewed several families from a brokerage firm in the wtc1. it was hard to watch children talk about their fathers and what they were wearing and look like, how they act, their nicknames.... all this is an emotional assault on the already fragile hearts of americans. i wish i could wake up and this wouldn't have happened. the whole scope of this ordeal is too much to get my brain around. as for the those who say "bad things happen to go people", i think you are full of shit. i don't know why this happened, i can't give an answer as to why God allowed something like this. it's too big for me... and i think most would agree with that.
also, if you are a journalism major, please tell me how this bullshit is newsworthy or appropriate...
i also believe texas tech is wrong with deciding to continue with football this weekend. it's too early, and i find it disrespectful. i listened to mike leech's comments and also kliff kingsbury's comments and the word i would use to describe their comments.... foolish. however, president schmidly's comments were the worst. in his interview he never conyed any sort of remorse or compassion. all he talked about was football and how it was so damn important. the tragedy never entered the equation. it's clear the administration will only cancel the game if they are unsure of the safety of the stadium. sorry new yorkers, the red raiders want to play.
